Moldova is cold. I just wanted to say that. Chisinau feels 10 degrees warmer than my village... I did make the amazing discovery the other night that I can use my water distiller in my bedroom with the door closed and it raises the temperature to what feels like a bearable 60 degrees. I distill water about every other day so that is a great discovery :). Host mother said not to do it... The water vapor is bad for the wall paper, but she also told me to not use the space heater PC gave me (it's apparently, like everything else in the house, too expensive for me to use...prea scump) so I need to have some way to stay warm and distilling water can cover two bases. The last volunteer in Pepeni left me one of those rubber water bottle things... and it stays hot for 5 hours so that is amazing and I am thankful at night when I go to bed :).
I'll try to keep everyone updated on my housing situation / what happens. Fortunately, most of the other volunteers I've spoken with this weekend have great new host family situations. I'm really happy for my friends who are in good homes. Everything has a way of working out so I'm trying to keep it positive. I'll also try to do more updates about actual work I'm doing. So far I've mainly just been commentating on all of the different things I've been seeing or feeling. It's a lot to take in.
This weekend was amazing. Tonight I had dinner with a ton of friends--Moldovan food, though delicious--and tomorrow morning I will have coffee waiting at the PC office which is always nice to look forward to. I miss non-instant coffee, but I'm going to miss the placintas (a pastry-like food) once I'm no longer in Moldova. Placinta with brinza (homemade cheese) is yummy.
